The University of Vaasa is a multidisciplinary University offering degrees at all academic levels from Bachelor's to Doctor's. It works in close cooperation with its surrounding region of Ostrobothnia and values internationalisation in its degrees and research. The teaching and research activities of the University are widely based, their focus being on business studies, administration, technology, languages and culture. The maritime campus offers a modern study environment for 5000 students


The University of Vaasa offers studies in business, languages, culture and communications, administration, and technology.

Studies in the Faculty of Business Studies consist of all business sciences (management and organisations, accounting and finance, and marketing), economics, and business law. The Faculty also offers studies in entrepreneurship.

Areas of strength of the Faculty of Humanities are translation and LSP, multilingualism, literature and knowledge of culture of different language areas, interpretation, and linguistics and communications. In addition to studies in English language, modern Finnish, Swedish and other Scandinavian languages, German language and literature, and communications, the faculty offers studies in Finnish literature, French, Russian, terminology, interpretation, multilingualism, and intercultural communications.

Education in the Faculty of Public Administration emphasises the viewpoint of comparison: the functioning, jurisprudence, and management of administration are examined in relation to experiences from other countries as well as models from private sector. The fields of teaching are regional studies, administrative science, public law, social and health administration, and sociology.

Faculty of Technology offers studies in automation technology, electrical engineering, telecommunication engineering, computer science, and industrial management. The faculty also teaches physics, material science, mathematics, business mathematics, and statistics

THE MASTERS PROGRAMME


Presently, there are five Master's degree programmes available in English at the University of Vaasa: Master's Degree Programme in Finance, Master's Degree Programme in International Business, Master's Degree Programme in Intercultural Studies in Communication and Administration, Master's Programme in Telecommunication Engineering, and Master's Programme in Industrial Management.

The Master's Degree Programme in International Business and the Master's Degree Programme in Finance are mainly aimed at international students. The Master's Programme in Telecommunication Engineering, the Master's Programme in Industrial Management, and the Master's Degree Programme in Intercultural Studies in Communication and Administration are open both for international and Finnish students.

There are many non-degree programmes designed especially for international exchange students. The programmes are the following: Scandinavian Business Studies, International Business Studies, East-West Business Studies, European Affairs Studies International Finance Studies, Multimedia Authoring Systems Studies, Industrial Management Studies, Telecommunication Engineering Studies, Public Management Studies, Intercultural Studies Multilingualism Studies (working knowledge in Swedish required), Studies in Swedish and Scandinavian Languages (working knowledge in Swedish is required) and German Language and Literature Studies (working knowledge in German required).



Application Form for Master's Degree Programmes



The link at the bottom of the page will direct you to the electronic application form used by the University of Vaasa.

Application to all five Master’s programmes in English offered by the University of Vaasa must be submitted in the electronic application system. All applicants, both international and Finnish, will apply to these international programmes through the system. The application period for all five Master’s programmes is 1 January – 28 February annually. There is no application fee for the Master's programmes offered by the University of Vaasa.

Please fill in the application form carefully. Fields marked with blue asterisk (*) are obligatory. Submit the form by clicking on the button at the bottom of the form. After submitting the information, the system will generate an application form based on the information submitted in the system. Please remember to print out the generated form.

After you have filled in the electronic application form, you should print the generated form, sign and send it with all the required documents (application enclosures) to the mailing address given by the system. Your application is not complete and cannot be processed unless the printed and signed application form with all the obligatory documents has been received. The deadline for submitting the required documents is 9 March.

Please note that if you apply for more than one programme, you need to submit a full application file (the application form and all requested enclosures) for each programme you apply for. Applications must be sent via regular (air) mail or a courier service. Applications sent via fax or email will not be accepted. Applications must be sent to: University of Vaasa, International Office / Degree Students, P.O.Box 700, FI-65101 Vaasa, Finland within the application period.

In case of using a courier service when submitting the application, the following street address may be needed: University of Vaasa, International Office / Degree Students, Wolffintie 34, FI-65200 Vaasa, Finland.

The University of Vaasa will inform the applicant upon the arrival of the application by e-mail. Please note that individual enquiries about receiving an application cannot be answered.

The Application Form operates in Finnish time (GMT+2). Applications to the study programmes at the University of Vaasa may be submitted in the system starting from 1 January 2009. The electronic application form will close on 28 February 2008.

Results
